CNC & 3D Routing

CNC or Computer Numerically Controlled and routing is the cutting, shaping, drilling, milling, and surfacing of materials using a computer controlled router head. It allows us to achieve 2D and 3D effects with plastics. We are able to work on a number of different materials on the CNC router including acrylic, Perspex, Plexiglas, polycarbonate, foamex and dibond sheets. Coordinates are uploaded into the machine controller from a separate CAD program and we can easily handle all the standard file formats e.g. eps,ai,pdf, cdr, dxf, dwf, plt. As you well know cutting materials by hand tools can be a real chore and you can end up wasting more material than you use. Our CNC machine can make life so much easier for the sign makers. We can handle all the standard file formats e.g. pdf, ai, eps, cdr, dxf, dwf, plt. All you need to do is just email the file to us and we will email you a quote back. It’s as easy as that. Our CAD/CAM operators can produce the 3D cutting files from materials such as Foam PVC, Acrylic, Polycarbonate, ProBond, MDF etc. Our CNC routing process typically produces consistent and high-quality work, improves productivity and reduces waste.

Flame Polishing Acrylic

During the manufacturing process, there are often tool marks or scratches left on products. By melting the surface of the material, surface tension smooths the surface out. Our experience and operator skill here is very important and acrylic flame polishing results in the highest quality professional finish available. Flame polishing is frequently used in plastics fabrication because of its high speed when compared to abrasive methods. Acrylic polishing can give the best clarity and light transmittance of all the clear plastics.

Diamond Polishing

Diamond polishing can provide a clean smooth finish to your plastic. Sharp, fast-rotating diamonds run over the edges of the sheet to create a high quality finish. It improves the visibility of your plastic product giving you perfect optical clarity and is recommended for high quality display products where a professional finish is required. It is used exclusively for sloping edges or straight edges and it's not compatible with rounded or curved edges, such as circles or ovals.

Line Bending Plastic

Line bending is one of the oldest and widely used thermoforming processes. Line bending involves heating a thermoplastic sheet material over a strip heater until it becomes soft and pliable, then bending it, usually over a former. The soften plastic is then shaped by hand or the machine to the desired form. Line bending plastic can provide a stronger and more resilient product while retaining a desirable shape and form to the custom plastic product.

Vacuum Forming Plastic

Vacuum forming can be described as a simplified version of thermforming, which can be accomplished through heating Acrylic or Polyethylene to a specific temperature that allows it to conform to the shape you require. This process can be used to form plastic into permanent objects such as protective covers and signs.
